Big news from H-Heli's… we now offer commercial helicopter training in the UK, giving private pilots a clear path to a professional flying career. Yes, the Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) - CPL(H) is officially on offer.

In association with Helicopter Services, this modular course is built for pilots who are ready to stop flying just for fun and start getting paid for it.

Turn your passion into a paycheque

If you’ve already got your PPL(H) and you’re eyeing up a career in aviation, this is your next move.

Flying helicopters for a living isn’t just a nice idea anymore - it’s a proper, structured path, and H-Heli's is now making that jump a lot more accessible.

What the CPL(H) course looks like

Training takes place at Tatenhill Airfield, right from H-Heli's HQ, and it’s designed to do more than just get you through a test. The goal is simple: turn you into a confident, capable commercial pilot.

Here’s what you’ll be getting stuck into:

  • 30 hours of dual flight instruction

  • 20 hours of visual flight training

  • 10 hours of instrument training

  • Ground school covering planning, organisation, and real-world ops

  • Optional night rating (add 5 hours if you fancy it)

All training is carried out on the Schweizer helicopter, a solid and respected platform that gives you proper hands-on experience for the real world.

At the end? You’ll complete your skill test with a CAA-accredited examiner and walk away with your CPL(H).

Entry requirements (No surprises here)

Before you jump in, you’ll need to tick a few boxes:

  • Class 1 medical

  • Minimum 155 helicopter flight hours

  • 50 hours as Pilot-in-Command (PIC)

  • 10 hours cross-country

Got previous experience?

Good news - you might not be starting from scratch:

  • PPL(A): up to 20 hours credited

  • CPL(A): up to 50 hours credited

You’ll also need to have completed your CPL(H) or ATPL(H) theory exams beforehand. If you haven’t done that yet, H-Heli's recommends Bristol Ground School to get you sorted.

Why train with H-Heli's?

H-Heli's is based at Tatenhill Airport in Staffordshire - and they’re the only helicopter training provider on site. That’s a big advantage.

  • Open 7 days a week

  • No restrictions on helicopter training

  • Quiet, uncongested airspace (perfect for learning)

As you progress, you won’t just stay in easy conditions either. You’ll get exposure to more complex environments like East Midlands and Birmingham airspace, building real confidence.

And it’s not just circuits and checklists:

  • Head north into the Peak District

  • Fly west into Wales

  • Take on mountain flying challenges

  • Even run helicopter routes through London

Not a bad office, honestly.

A few extra bits worth knowing

  • If you’ve got an ICAO or military licence, just get in touch - we’ll walk you through what’s needed

  • Military pilots can use ELCAS funding through Helicopter Services

  • Pricing depends on your experience, so it’s best to have a quick chat and get a proper quote
